

Rodney was one of six children and was born and raised in San Antonio. He graduated from Central Catholic High School. He served in the Army Reserve, Texas National Guard.
He learned the value of hard work at an early age and became an electrician apprentice in 1960 at Martin & Wright Electrical Company. After six years, he went to work for Lone Star Brewing Company where he worked for 28 years advancing as an electrical project coordinator.
He then contracted as an electrician throughout San Antonio. As an industrial commercial electrician, some of his projects included working on the Methodist Hospital, Alamodome, Toyota and the downtown Grand Hyatt Hotel to name just a few.
He was married for over 52 years and raised a family of three children. He could be counted on to help family and friends in need. He was very interested in his family history and created an extensive genogram tracing the settlement in Castroville, Texas.
Rodney enjoyed expressing himself through writing songs. He loved to sing. He wrote numerous songs about Texas, Jesus and the love for his wife. Rodney could also draw and paint and loved to paint scenes of Texas, Bluebonnets and the Alamo. He shared his love of painting with his children, Troy, Debbie and Michelle.
He was an avid storyteller and loved sharing his knowledge of Texas and San Antonio. He enjoyed working in the yard and spending time on home projects. A favorite pass time was to fish with his son Troy. He was creative and enjoyed building things. Throughout his life, he helped Ann with her arts and crafts business. He created art, ceramics and jewelry to sell with her business.
He loved his family, wife, children and grandchildren greatly. He will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a still born infant brother, Charles Haynes; and brother Joseph Haynes.
John is survived by his daughter, Deborah Craig and husband, John; son, Rodney Troy Haynes and wife, Teresa; daughter, Michelle Haynes and partner, Tessa Reed; 3 grandchildren, Dustin Craig and wife, Brooke, Patrick Haynes and Mary Haynes; brothers, Russell Haynes, Edgar Haynes, and Steven Haynes and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
