

He was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 30, 1939 to the late John Milton and Verlee McDonald Heard.
John grew up in Naples, Texas. He graduated from high school in Leonard, Texas and from Baylor University in 1961.
After graduation, John became one of the youngest Charter Life Underwriters. He spent thirty years in the banking and investment industry. For 15 years he served as Sr. Vice President of the Trust Department at Gross Bank and continued in the banking industry for another ten years.
After retirement, John founded his own asset and investment company. He was an avid fly fisherman and grill master. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was known for his hearty laugh, especially at his own jokes.
John's philanthropic endeavors included the San Antonio Library Foundation, UNICORN Society, St. Joseph's & St. Peter's Children's Home, and Magik Children's Theater.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Milton Heard.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sue Conway Heard; daughters, Julia Suzanne Heard, Alicia Heard Blair and her husband, Brit; grandchildren, Jacqueline Elizabeth Heard, Avery Sue Blair, Braden Conway Blair; sister-in-law, Ginger Heard; niece, Hilary Shipp and her husband Brian; nephew, James Heard and his wife Sandy; cousins, Jane and Tommy Hamilton, Mike and Susan Hastings, Paulette and Charles Smith, and Tommy Gee Heard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of the above mentioned charities.
