John Frank Kendall was born in Lewisburg, Kentucky to his parents, John Victor Kendall and Catherine Bell Scheerer. His family owned a small farm and sawmill in Troy, Tennessee, where he spent his childhood with his three sisters, Jane, Kitty, and Barbara. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister Jane Burns of Alabama, and his two daughters Lorraine Schmitt and Nancy Kendall.
John studied for several years at the University of Tennessee, Martin; subsequently joined the Air Force and was stationed in France where he met his first wife Marie Therese collinet. It was there that he learned to enjoy good food, and good wine. He became widowed, and married his second wife, Emmie Cunningham. He retired from federal employment at Randolph Air Force Base, and was a long time resident of Schertz, Texas. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2006, and succumbed to the disease on February 4, 2022. He will be missed for his quiet presence, and his dry sense of humor.
There will be a brief service, and a Celebration of Life amongst friends, and family at Cobb's Chapel Cemetery, Hornbeak, Tennessee, where he will be buried alongside his two sisters, mother and father.
