John McWesley Ledbetter, Jr., born March 31, 1947 in Washington D.C., passed away peacefully on April 25, 2002, after a lengthy illness. John, also known as Leddy, was preceded in death by his parents, Mac Wesley and Dorothy Clark Ledetter, his uncle and aunt, James C. and Madeline Clark Nelson, and his grandfather, Sir Arthur Clark. He is survived by two children, Monday Anne Ledbetter, of San Antonio and John McWesley Ledbetter III, of Dripping Springs, as well as one step-son, Clayton Sikes, of Austin. Close friends, Lee and Don Rolls of Dripping Springs also survive him. In recent years, John resided on his ranch with his beloved dogs and horses in the Texas hill country. During his youth, as the son of an Army officer, he traveled and lived with his family in numerous locations around the world. He attended Schreiner Military Institute and graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1964, and then the University of the Americas in Mexico. During the Vietnam era, he served his country in the U. S. Army. He continued with his love of music, which began in his youth, throughout his life.
