John grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and attended MacArthur High School. He lived a life filled with curiosity, dedication, and deep faith. John had many hobbies that he wove into his daily life and took great pride in the things he loved.
One of his greatest talents was gardening. John had a remarkable ability to take a struggling plant and patiently nurse it back to health, watching it flourish into something beautiful.
He also had a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles. John spent countless hours working on his beloved Corvette and many other cars he collected over the years. His passion extended to Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and through the years, he built quite a collection.
Another passion of John’s was preserving family history. He loved collecting meaningful family items and sharing the stories behind them. For John, these items were more than objects—they were connections to the people and memories he cherished.
John also had a deep love for animals. Throughout his life, he cared for many dogs and cats who loved him dearly and brought him great companionship.
Above all, John was a deeply faithful man. His faith guided his life and was reflected in his wide collection of Bibles and prayer books. He kept many notebooks filled with prayers, hopes, and reflections that expressed his devotion and love for those around him.
John is survived by his sisters, Allyson Tollette and Karen Nowacek; many cousins he loved and grew up with; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to gather on March 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home (1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218) to celebrate his life. This will be a small, informal gathering where family and friends are welcome to share stories, anecdotes, and memories of John. During the ceremony, John’s ashes will be placed in a niche along with a few small mementos that remind us of him.
Following the ceremony, family and friends are warmly invited to join us at the home of Allyson and Terry Tollette (212 Mecca Dr., San Antonio, TX 78232) for continued fellowship and remembrance.
