John E. Pickard

John Edward Pickard, age 87, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on January 31, 1935 in Muncie, Indiana, to parents, John and Ica Miller Pickard and graduated from Middletown High School. He attended Purdue University and later graduated from Ball State University in Muncie. It was during this time that he met his wife, Phyllis and they were married July 12, 1957. After numerous moves during his career, he and his family eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas in 1976, where John was founder and president of Tech-Energy Company for 40 years. His Christian faith was important to him throughout his life and he instilled those values in his family. John was a member of First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio and also attended Northeast Bible Church in Garden Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, James W. Bell. John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis, and his children, Rachel Bell and her partner, Terry Anderson; Beth Benke and her husband, Louis; Teresa Moeller and her husband, David; John M. Pickard and his wife, Crystal; Joan Moore and her husband, Joe, his grandchildren, Jessica Gaut and husband Jerry, James P. Bell and wife Jennifer, Hilary Pickard, John Benke, Mallory Villars and husband Walter, Stephanie Moeller, Zachary Benke, Luke Moore, Jacob Moore, David Moore; Kaycie Sullivan and husband Trey; great grandchildren, J.P. Bell, Harper Moeller; Quade, Bryce, and Blane Sullivan, and sister, Mary Joann Featherston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
