
CMSgt. John M. Jack McCullough, USAF Retired, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Wilford Hall Medical Center, at the age of 80. He was born January 27, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of John and Daisy McCullough.
Jack served almost 30 years in the U.S. Air Force with tours of duty in Germany, Viet Nam, Korea, the American Embassy in Warsaw, Poland and at several stateside bases. He retired from the Air Force in 1983 and settled with his family in San Antonio.
Jack is survived by the love of his life, Evelyn Evie, his wife of 57 years and his beloved daughter Sharon McCullough of San Antonio. He is also survived by his niece, Kathy Grantz, her husband Gary and their son Jordan of Fredericksburg, Virginia; sister-in-law, Nancy Radford and nephews, Gary and Keith Radford all of Manassas, Virginia; brother-in-law, Kenneth Turner of Ashland City, Tennessee, sister-in-law, Carolyn Mangrum of Whitwell, Tennessee and their son, Jim Turner of Salecreek, Tennessee; and brother-in-law, Mack Turner and wife, Rose and their daughters, Emily and Elizabeth all of Southern Virginia. He is also survived by his and Evie's dear friend and neighbor, Hortense Galindo.
Evie and Sharon wish to extend their thanks to Dr. Toby Lees, Dr. Alex Brown and the ER and ICU staffs of Wilford Hall Medical Center who cared for Jack during his final illness. Special thanks to Chaplain Patrick Knoester, whose presence was a great comfort to Evie and Sharon.
The family plans to celebrate Jack's life privately.
