John Clifford Rowe, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 10, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Elizabeth Johnson Rowe and Johnnie Rowe. John is survived by his loving and devoted family: wife, Linda McDonald; daughters, Devon Rowe Williams (Eric) and Gillian Rowe (John Mullenfeld); grandchildren, Lilia and Jack Williams and Quinten Mullenfeld; mother, Elizabeth Miles (Earl); and siblings, Connie Freeman, Gary Rowe and Karen Rowe (Ed Grossenbacher). He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Rowe and his first wife and mother of his children, Pamela Rowe.
After graduation from high school in Dallas, John proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army as a border guard in Germany with the 1st BN 13th Infantry, 2nd Calvary Regiment. A creative, adventurous person and an entrepreneur at heart, after leaving the military, John started a travel business followed by twenty-five years in sales and management in the hospitality industry with Hilton, Marriott and as an independent contractor. After retirement, he started Circa 1800 Fine Art Gallery and Estate Valet, valuing and auctioning fine art and antiquities. Throughout his life, John enjoyed travelling the world and engaging with new and interesting people and different cultures.
Johns greatest joys and love were for God and his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was always grateful to spend time with his mother, Elizabeth. Following the passing of his first wife, Pam, John met and married Linda and they had thirteen wonderful years together before God called him home all too soon. Linda and John were soulmates who brought emotional and spiritual love and fullness to each others life that will remain forever. His children and grandchildren were his pride, joy and love and he looked forward to every moment spent with them.
A kind and gentle soul filled with humor and patience, John lived life to its fullest every day and loved deeply. He was the first to reach out and offer a helping hand to those in need and never met a stranger. John had a deep and compelling faith in God and his fellow men and women that lifted up all who were blessed to know him. As his daughter Devons childhood friend wrote: "You know how some people just have that light, that air about them. Your Dad will always be that for me. There was something about him that draws people inHe was one of the good ones." John will always be "that" for us. We will always remember you, John, and you will remain in our hearts and souls forever.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
