

TSGT John R. Simmons, age 81, passed away December 19, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on November 13, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida to John Theodore Simmons and Mildred Alma Hanks Simmons. John retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service.
John was preceded in death by his wife Olga M. Simmons, and is survived by his step-son, Armando Ramirez and wife Carmen Marrujo; grandchildren, Analisa Ramirez, Patricia Macias and husband Martin; great-grandchildren, Mia Macias, Martin Macias and Jonathan Caltzontzin; sister, Barbara LaCross.
John's military service took him to several beautiful countries which included Europe, Libya, and Vietnam. After his military service he worked for a local newspaper as a Hill Country distributor and also as a remodeling contractor. John and his wife Olga enjoyed several casino trips throughout the U.S. and several countries in Europe. Together they also enjoyed going on several cruises.
John was a friendly and kind man to everyone. He loved engaging in conversation with everyone he met. He was also a generous man and donated to several charities.
Recently, one of his proudest moments was becoming a member of the Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 10, 2022 beginning at 10:30 A.M. with a rosary at 11:00 A.M. and a funeral mass to follow at 11:30 A.M., all services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, Texas 78023. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Air Force military honors.
