He is preceded in death by his wife, Della Stelly and granddaughter, Leslie Hoover.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Hoover and husband, Sid; grandsons, Matthew and Brent Hoover; brother, J.C. Stelly; sisters, Edith Bourgeois; Etie Lopez, Annabell LeBlanc and Thelma Duhon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
During World War II, John served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
He retired from Texaco Oil Company as a drilling supervisor.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and attended St. Pius X Catholic Church.
