John F. Yosko, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio, Texas, on May 16, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father and father-in-law, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and brother-in-law, uncle, and a cherished friend.
Born August 24, 1932, to John F. Yosko and Pauline Kapitza Yosko at their home in Poth, TX. John was raised on a farm along the San Antonio River, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong love for family traditions.
He attended Poth High School and proudly played on the Poth 49ers six-man football team, where they earned Bi-District Champion honors.
John served honorably in the United States Army before returning to Texas and eventually settling in San Antonio, where he worked for 37 years at Alamo Iron Works as a skilled welder and machinist. Known for his talent and ingenuity, he could build anything and took great pride in his craftsmanship.
On September 28, 1958, John married the love of his life, Marilyn Weller. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage built on love, faith, and devotion to family.
They were blessed with two children, Stephanie and Steven, and later a growing family of 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. John found immense joy in the time he spent with them all. Always present to support and encourage those he loved.
He treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they will always remember his smile, guidance, and unwavering love.
John loved working with his hands. Whether in his workshop, yard, or garage, he was always creating, fixing, or improving something. His inventive nature led him to design sprinkler systems, pulley mechanisms, and countless home projects.
He enjoyed traveling with Marilyn after retirement, taking cruises and visiting destinations across the United States and Europe.
John also loved music and dancing, especially the waltz and polka, and never hesitated to step onto the dance floor. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends and valued time spent together above all else, attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. He will be in our hearts forever.
John was preceded in death by his son, Steven Yosko; his parents, John and Pauline Yosko; his sisters, Pauline Yosko, Margerat Coldewey, Martha Mutz, Leona Davis, and Mary Zimmerman; and his brothers, Paul and George Yosko.
