Let me tell you a story about the first boy born at the Texon, Texas hospital. Johnnie Truman Howard was born to Oliver Lucian and Dorothy Mae Howard on February 27, 1947. He was followed by other siblings, Robert Howard (deceased) and Georgia Howard Brown.
Throughout his years at Reagan County High School in Big Lake, TX, he was an athlete who played football, basketball, and golf and worked in the oilfield during summertime. He attended Baylor University on a football scholarship.
Returning to West Texas, Johnnie was hired by The Western company where he learned to "frac wells," starting as a truck driver, treater, and then into sales, a perfect career for someone who loved to talk to people and tell stories. Johnnie met his wife, Beverly, in Rankin. They have lived in many places, among them are Sonora, Midland, Edmond, OK, Bedford, Charleston, WV, Vernal, UT, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio.
Johnnie was a people person. Some of his favorite people were his family:
His wife of 50 years, Beverly, his son Kevin Howard, daughter-in-law Darla Howard, daughter Kimberly Howard Doramus and son-in-law, Darrell Doramus. His grandchildren Joseph Howard, Riley Howard, Allison Howard, Tyler Doramus, Ashlyn Brannon, Haley and Everly Doramus filled him with joy.
Johnnie loved the oil industry where he knew many people.
Also important in his life were studying the Bible at First Baptist Church in San Antonio and supporting the mission of Still Water Camps in Boerne. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, April 4, 2022, between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, in the Wilson Chapel at the First Baptist Church of San Antonio.
