

Johnny was a born salesman and entrepreneur. A graduate of St. Pius High School, student of the Massey Business College, and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a skilled bowler, storyteller, and car guy.
Johnny sold everything from Flour to Jax Beer before he went to work for Lone Star Liquor selling premium spirits. He quickly became one of the top salesmen in Texas while operating two nightclubs/bars of his own. In 1975 he was promoted to Sales Manager and transferred to San Antonio.
In the early 80’s Johnny and Linda opened the first Marble Slab Creamery in San Antonio. Shortly after he was promoted to Branch Manager for Lone Star Liquor and transferred to Corpus Christi.
Johnny was always a car guy so in the late 80’s he moved back to S.A. and opened his first J’s Auto Sales which over the years grew to 4 locations and afforded him to do what he really loved…enjoy and sell classic cars and hot rods.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda Watkins. Johnny is survived by his sons, Chris Watkins, John Watkins; daughter, Michele Watkins; brother, Gary Watkins; sister, Pam Watkins Butler; granddaughters, Casie Kidwell, Elizabeth Watkins, Hanna Watkins; grandson, William Watkins; great-granddaughters, Harlow Ashworth and Harper Kidwell; and a multitude of wonderful friends.
