Jose R. Charles, age 83 of San Antonio, was called home to rest on May 10, 2002. He was a decorated Army Veteran of WW II 84th Infantry 3rd Army . He is survived by his wife of 53 years Florencia L. Charles; sons, Rogelio Charles and wife, Rosa, and John M. Charles; daughters, Velma Haberer and husband John, Martha Vickers and husband, Michael, and Marie Hinton and husband, Roy; grandchildren, Melissa Charles, Jessica Charles, Roger Charles, Jr. and Kurt Hinton; two brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews
