

Jose C. Enriquez, who was born on April 9, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, and passed away on March 26, 2026, in the same beloved city, lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, faith, and love for his family. He was a proud Catholic whose life reflected the values of service, perseverance, and quiet strength. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Jose was the beloved husband of Mary O. Enriquez of 58 Years, and together they shared a lifetime of memories, family, and enduring love. He was the loving father of Joe Enriquez Jr., Sandra Mejia, and Roxanne Munoz, and he was also a cherished father-in-law to Debra L. Enriquez, Oscar E. Mejia, and Tony Gutierrez. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in watching it grow through the generations. He was a treasured grandfather to Joe Enriquez III and Allyson, Jennifer Marie Caldwell and Justin, Lauren Enriquez, Joseph E. Mejia, Gabriella Mejia, Adrianna Marie Mejia, Joey Munoz, and Daniel Munoz. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Aubrielle Marie McCoy, Arianna Marie Enriquez, and Baby Kylie Marie Caldwell. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unwavering, and the joy they brought him was among the greatest blessings of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel V. Enriquez Sr. and Consuelo C. Enriquez, as well as his brothers Manuel Enriquez Jr., Jesus Enriquez, and Josephina Ponce. He is survived by his siblings Julia Posos, Aurora Harrison, Dora Aguilar, Fernando Enriquez, and Alonso Enriquez, along with many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude. The bonds he shared with his family were deep and lasting, and his presence will be missed in every gathering, every conversation, and every moment of remembrance.
Jose attended Lanier High School and went on to build a respected and successful career as the founder and owner of J.C. Enriquez and Son Plumbing. As a master plumber, he earned the trust of his community through his skill, honesty, and dedication to doing the job right. His work ethic and leadership left a lasting impression on those who knew him professionally, and his name became associated with reliability, craftsmanship, and integrity. He took great pride in the business he built and in the legacy, he created through years of steady commitment and hard work.
Outside of work, Jose enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, visiting the casino, and collecting silver coins, gold, and silver bars. These interests brought him joy and reflected his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and lasting treasures. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and those moments remained among his most treasured memories. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet companionship, he found his greatest happiness surrounded by family.
Jose lived a life rooted in faith, family, and determination. He faced life with strength and dignity, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and many friends. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “It is not length of life, but depth of life.” Jose Enriquez lived deeply, loved fully, and will be remembered with lasting affection and respect.
The family will receive guests from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary West, with a rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m.
