Jose Ruben Gonzalez

He was born November 23, 1939, in Weslaco, Texas to Rafael and Manuela Gonzalez. In 1966 he married his wife, Concepcion in Donna, TX and together they had three children, Rafael, Alice and Diana. In 1979 they moved to Alice, TX where they lived for many years in their beautiful family home on Ebony Circle. Ruben worked for Guiberson Oil Company for several years and retired with Halliburton. Ruben was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who worked extremely hard and provided his family with a great life. He will be remembered by his loved ones as someone who was proud, funny, and always loving.

Ruben is survived by his wife, Concepcion Gonzalez, his children, Rafael Gonzalez, Alice (Gonzalez) Esparza, and Diana (Gonzalez) Flores; son-in-laws, Manuel Esparza III and Lutfy Flores-Vico; grandchildren, Cassandra (Gonzalez) Meza, Mia Gonzalez, Erica Esparza, Brianna Gonzalez, Manuel Esparza IV, Logan Flores, Andres Gonzalez and Diego Flores; brothers Guadalupe Gonzales, Rafael Gonzales; sister-in-law Rafaela Gonzales as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ponciana G. Reyna, and brother, Pablo Gonzalez.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 19, at 5 p.m. at the Porter Loring Mortuary on 1101 McCullough Avenue in San Antonio.
