Jose Luis Parra

Jose Luis Parra, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on May 9, 1942, in Coahuila, Mexico to Luis C. Parra and Enriqueta Medrano. He joined the Army in 1960 and served nine years of Military Service. He reached the rank of SSG in the 2nd Airborne Division and served overseas during the Viet Nam War. He was awarded several medals during his service, including the Bronze Star. After his Military service, Joe worked for IBM and completed his associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his lifetime, Joe held much pride in his involvement with the Knights of Columbus. He also had a great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, and his son, Jody Parra (Lora). He is survived by his wife, Hilda Vela Lopez; his sons, Gregory Parra (Tamara), John Parra (Rebecca), and Julian Parra; daughter (step) Linda Roberts (John); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary West (located near Sea World).
