

Jose "Zee" Zepeda, age 57, passed away May 25, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born April 19, 1960, in Alice Texas to Jose Guillermo Zepeda and Micaela Lerma Zepeda. He retired from the United States Marine Corps. He was a former resident of Alice and currently resided in San Antonio.
Jose graduated from Texas A&I Kingsville Summa Cum Laude with two bachelor degrees in Psychology and Sociology.
He loved his family and his grandkids were his world he could never tell them no. Jose had an English bulldog named Chiquita that was his baby and always by his side.
He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans and when he was well he competed in several Olympic Games. Jose traveled to Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Juan Puerto Rico, and even competed here in San Antonio.
Throughout his years at the Veterans hospital he always took the time to talk and give guidance to individuals who had just become paralyzed. He was a well known man and well loved for his outspoken and outgoing attitude.
Joe loved listening to music and dancing the night away. He never let being in a wheelchair hold him back and in his children's eyes he walked taller than most.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Guillermo Zepeda. Jose is survived by his son, Roy Buentello and his children, Luke Buentello and Shopie Buentello; daughter, Joelene Zepeda and her son, Jordan Lee Anziano; son, Joe Willie Zepeda and his children, Matthew Jay Zepeda and Adaniz Zepeda; son, Joe Frank Zepeda and his children, Javier Zepeda and Samuel Zepeda; mother, Micaela Lerma Zepeda; siblings, Jose E. Zepeda, Sandra Zepeda Johnson, and Janie Zepeda.
The family would like to thank Corean Mills and Andrea Hernandez Santos for being Joe's caretakers and being by his side through the good and hard times.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
