After graduating from Alamo Heights High School, Joe attended The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and completed his education at the University of Texas in Austin in engineering. He became the successful business owner of Bexar Insulation Company with locations in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley.
To know Joe, one knew he loved his family foremost and then in no particular order or combination he loved hunting and fishing, black labs, the Texas Coast and Hill Country, single malt scotch, fine red wines, travels almost anywhere, card and domino games of skill with his good friends, Linda Ronstadt and Frank Sinatra, great jazz, and pie, whether it be cherry or key lime. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved helping his children and grandchildren experience the wildlife of Texas.
Joe was married to Karen Dawson for twenty-four loving years and previously to Alice Kelly. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie Brown (Jeffrey), Susan Dawson (Kenneth Mannas), and Blair Kaiser (Jonathan McCreary); sister, Dorothy Burlage; grandchildren, Haley Brown Cason (Paul), Virginia Brown Holmes (David), Jeffrey Joseph Brown (Lauren), Clark Mannas, Adriene Mannas, and Brayden Baker; and 9 great-grandchildren.
We will miss and love him always.
