It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Joseph Anthony Ybarra entered into eternal rest at the age of 41 on Thursday, November 18th in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in San Antonio on May 18, 1980 to loving parents, Jose E. Herrera Jr. and Margie Huerta. Joey was always the person who lit up a room with his smile, his laughter, and outgoing personality that always drew people to him. Growing up in San Antonio, he graduated from South San High School. Joey met the love of his life, Laura Gonzalez, 22 years ago, and spent the last 14 years married while raising their two beautiful children, Joseph Anthony Ybarra Jr. and Khloe Lauren Ybarra.
Joey loved to go fishing, riding motorcycles, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a heart of gold and was not only genuine, but also one of the most generous individuals, always helping anyone in need, and never expecting anything in return. Joey will always be remembered for the many lives that he touched along his journey here on earth.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose E. Herrera Jr., paternal grandparents, Gloria E. Herrera, Jose E. Herrera, Alicia H. Herrera, and maternal grandfather, Guillermo V. Gonzales. Joeys shining light will forever be in the hearts of his adoring family, including his wife, Laura Gonzalez; children, Joseph A. Ybarra Jr. and Khloe L. Ybarra; parents Margie & Patrick Huerta; grandmother Carmen G. Gonzales; sisters Patricia M. Cortez (Gilbert), Christina Pinon (Joaquin), Kathryn A. Herrera (Manuel); brother Jeffery M. Herrera; nieces Marisa L. Cortez, Amanda M. Cortez, Kaitlyn R. Cortez, Zoey A. Rangel; nephews Jeremy M. Perez, Manuel Rangel Jr., and Joaquin J. Pinon III, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
