Josh came home from his summer job in the late evening on August 2, 2016. He ate dinner and talked a little with his brother, Kyle, sent a goodnight text to his girlfriend, Elizabeth Kraft, and went to sleep. Sometime during the night he silently left us all forever.
Josh was one of those young men who touched everyone he knew: coaches, team members, opposing team members, game officials, neighbors, and even strangers. He was a talented athlete and loved golf, baseball, and football. He was also an avid hunter, angler, and loved to throw washers with his dad, brothers, and friends. Josh was slow to anger and fast to have joy. He was rare to criticize and often to praise. He seldom asked for help, but often lent a hand. He loved to laugh. He was our angel here on Earth.
A great student, he was a member of that special group who formed the top tier of his Churchill High School class. That group of friends helped shape the core of his character and provided him an environment where the only peer pressure was the competition to make better grades than each other. He was smart, but even more importantly; he was a diligent student who had an incredible work ethic. He had that priceless combination of intelligence and diligence, and looked forward to following his brothers, parents, and grandfather to Aggieland.
Undoubtedly, the most important thing after his salvation, Josh knew that his family loved him, and his family knows that he loved them. Josh is survived by his parents, Dan and Stacie Pollard; brothers, Mason and Kyle; and grandparents, Patricia and Robert Hilchey of Bedford, TX, and Patricia Pollard of San Antonio; wonderful uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Don Pollard.
Known by all his friends as that "great guy," he will be missed by all who knew the soft-spoken, well-mannered young gentleman they called simply "Josh." If the line of good guys in heaven is a long one, Josh is at the head of that line.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 7, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
