Brent was full of life, and he brought joy and light to everyone fortunate enough to know him. As a child, he adored his big brother, Brandon — affectionately called “Bobo” — and the two were inseparable, always finding ways to create a mischievous brotherly moment.
Brent cherished long walks along the banks of the Cibolo River with his dad, searching for fossils and listening in awe to stories of his grandfather, who had once walked the same path. He was a ball of energy with a heart for others. From choir and scouts to football and soccer, Brent embraced every moment of childhood. He loved visiting Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld with his family and was an avid gamer. His spirit was strong, and his mind, extraordinary.
Family trips to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi were among his most treasured memories — and the day he went deep sea fishing marked a milestone he’d never forget. He especially loved Christmas and Halloween: decorating the tree with his grandma, baking cookies, and indulging in her famous “reindeer poop” snack. Brent had a knack for creating haunted houses so spooky, they could scare even the bravest ghost.
As a teen, Brent looked up to his uncle Colby, an avid skateboarder. At just 12 years old, Brent picked up a skateboard — and never looked back. He rocked it.
Music became another great passion, inspired by his mother, Cynthia. Brent had a natural gift — he could pick up any instrument and play it with ease. He wrote his own lyrics and even formed his own band.
He shared a profound love for music and art with his mother. Together, they spent countless days filled with laughter, dreams, and deep conversations. Their bond was so strong, a simple glance could speak volumes. They loved taking long drives and watching scary movies — side by side, best friends always.
God truly broke the mold when He made Brent. His smile lit up every room. His humor, his warmth, and even the way he adored Grandpa’s cat, Frankie, made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Words will never fully capture the magic of who Brent was or the love he inspired. As the saying goes, “God takes the good ones,” and though it’s not ours to understand, we find peace in knowing he walks beside us now — a gentle breeze, a whisper in the wind, a guiding presence.
Until we meet again, sweet soul — I love you, son. You will forever be my little “Squirrel.”
Brent is preceded in death by his grandfather, Harry Lyssy, and godfather, Jonathan Urbina de los Reyes. He is survived by his loving mother, Cynthia Rapoza (Jenny); father, Joshua Lyssy (Jessica); brother, Brandon Gonzalez; sister, Nevaeh Rain Alvarado; grandparents, Sally Lyssy and Tamira Serna; uncles, Christopher Serna (Daisy) and Colby King; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family from the Lyssy, Morawietzl, Rodriguez, and Rapoza families.
