
She was born to John Courtland and Maude Worrall on January 25, 1915 in Jeffersonville. She was a 1932 graduate of Jeffersonville High School.
She married Charles Raymond Russell in March 1934 and spent the next 25 years accompanying and supporting him throughout his career as a United States Army officer. During that time she volunteered in various Army hospitals as a Grey Lady.
Upon his death, she returned to Jeffersonville with her children. She worked for a number of years in the Clark County Office of the Recorder. A member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her husband, LTC Charles Raymond Russell.
She is survived by her children, J. Thomas Russell, DDS and wife B'sheva of Kettering, OH, Samuel Gordon Russell and wife Judith of Washington, D.C., and Ann Russell Potter and husband David of Bulverde, TX; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of her volunteer work, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation http://www.fisherhouse.org/index.html or 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 600, Rockville, MD 20852 and its "comfort homes" established at every major military medical center and VA medical center. Family members are able to stay in these homes without charge during the time their loved ones are hospitalized and receiving specialized medical care.
