Juan Castilleja

20 septembre 193729 mai 2021

TSgt Juan Castilleja, a veteran of the United States Air Force, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away May 29, 2021. Juan was born to Pedro and Maria Castilleja, September 20,1937 in New Braunfels and raised in San Antonio. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and shortly after enlisted in the US Air Force. After serving 20 years in the military, he continued his career as a civil servant at Kelly Air Force Base until he retired.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris. Children Tony (Dawn), Patty (Mando), Stephen, and Crissy (Rodney). Grandchildren Vanessa (Leonard), Jessica (William), Jennifer (fiancée John), Jamie (Miha), Logan, Brandon, and seven great-grandchildren. Sisters Olga and Connie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Thomas "TJ", and siblings Mercy, Mando, and Luis.

Juan enjoyed playing racquetball, craftsman work, bar-b-queuing, playing the lotto, and the occasional Lone Star beer :) He was an active Lanier High School Alum (Fabulous 50’s Club). He loved watching San Antonio Spurs games and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan!

Always referring to Doris as ‘Mom’ or ‘My beautiful wife’, he stood by her side through thick and thin. They enjoyed time with friends and family. They loved to dance, attend social events, and travel.

To his children, he modeled hard work, perseverance, and strength. He was their provider, protector, and supported each of their endeavors.

He was a caring grandfather, "DeeDees". He enjoyed and cherished the time he spent with them. He lit up every time he saw them.

"Gomabseubnida" for being the greatest husband, dad, and DeeDees we could ever ask for! We love you mo' mo' mo' mo' mo'! ♡

Doe, please accept my wholehearted condolences to you, your family, and your friends for the passing of my dear friend Johnny. We shared a twenty-year career in the USAF, since we first met in 1961, at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas, to Lackland AFB, Tx, where we continued our camaraderie after our retirement circa 1983. I have a lot of fond memories of you and Johnny, especially while we were stationed in Panama, in the mid-seventies. His love for you and his children was without boundaries. To say Johnny was a hard worker is an understatement. May his soul and spirit rest in eternal peace. Hiram

Mr. Castilleja , I am saddened of your passing. You and Mrs. Castilleja are, were and always have been a huge influence in the life of my daughter Vanessa and my deceased son TJ. Thank you for all the unconditional love and support you gave them both. In my early years as a young adult you accepted me as a son and as part of the family. I knew I had placed you in a difficult situation. I always respected you but from that moment forward my respect towards you and Mrs. Castilleja grew and was greatly enhanced. You are and were a great father, a great grandfather, good husband, and good family man that I admire and wish I could have been. Going to miss you, miss our pass conversations ; but I am happy for you. Happy you are going to visit with TJ, with both my parents , and with my brother Paul who is waiting with a cold Lone Star for you in heaven. You left a legacy here on earth and were truly instrumental in the lives of many. Good Bye Sir and may you Rest In Peace.
