

Juan Flores Cortez went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2019 at the age of 66. He was born on May 4, 1952 in San Antonio, TX and grew up in the subcity Cementville in Alamo Heights. He attended AHISD and graduated in 1970. After graduating he joined the Army National Guard and served for 7yrs. He also worked for Handy Andy for 18yrs and then worked for Parts Net/Keystone Automotive for 20yrs. He was a member of Luz Apostolica for many years and served as Sunday School Superintendent. After working for almost 40yrs he helped take care of his Father and Mother in law, taking them to doctors appointments or to the grocery store. Whatever they needed he was there for them. He was a very caring person who loved his family very much. He also became the Grandpa bus driver to his grandchildren, taking and picking them up from school. He was always willing to help and do favors for friends and family. He was the best Husband, Father, Brother, and Friend. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his father, Juan B. Cortes. Juan is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maria Cortez; daughters, Teresa Cortez (Shawn Stevenson), Tara Cortez, Tanya Garza (Mario), Tamara Cortez; mother, Olivia Cortez; sisters, Vicky De La Cruz (Hector), Naomi James "Mimi" (Greg), Ruth Zamora (Dan); brother, Roy Cortez (Cynthia); grandchildren, Ashley Cortez, Sophia Garza, Liliana Garza, Joseph Garza, Gabriela Garza, JD Stevenson, Tori Stevenson, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral Services will also be at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 10:00am, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
