Juana Patricia Colunga

Juana Patricia Colunga, affectionately known as Patty, passed away in the warmth of her home in San Antonio, Texas, on the 24th of June, 2025, at the age of 55. Born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. Mexico on January 17, 1970, Patty lived a vibrant and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of everyone she knew.

A cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, Patty’s spirit was characterized by boundless love and selflessness. Her family was her pride, including her beloved husband, Jose Luis Barrios Jr., and her adored children: Justin R. Colunga, Jeremy Colunga, Jason P. Colunga, Jillian M. Barrios, and Jonathan Barrios. She was the treasured daughter of Maria De Los Angeles Vela and Tomas Colunga Garcia, and the caring sister to Tomas, Cesar E., and Gerardo Colunga Gloria.

Patty’s formative years were spent at Southwest High School, where she graduated in 1989. Her academic achievements were only the beginning of a life marked by intelligence and dedication. These traits carried over into her professional life where she found her calling as a Medical Assistant at Wellmed. Patty’s commitment to her work reflected her inherent desire to help others and make a positive impact in the world around her.

A devout Christian, Patty’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence, inspiring all her actions with grace and compassion. Her passion for life was displayed in her wide array of interests. Patty’s love for dancing, singing, and playing bingo was equaled by her enjoyment of swimming, visiting the casino, playing Loteria, and Manitas. In every activity, Patty found joy, but nothing compared to the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends.

As the matriarch of her family, Patty’s nurturing nature created a home filled with laughter, learning, and above all, love. She is remembered for her immense capacity for love, her selflessness in always putting others first, and for her intelligent approach to any challenge she faced. Patty’s warmth radiated to all corners of her life, enveloping those around her in comfort and affection.

Patty will be deeply missed and perennially remembered as the heart of her family, an irreplaceable presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her. As we bid farewell to Juana Patricia Colunga, we do so with gratitude for her unwavering love and the countless memories she has blessed us with. Her legacy will continue to influence and inspire, perpetuated through the values she instilled in her loved ones.

Though Patty’s voice has been stilled, the echoes of her song will linger on in the minds and hearts of all who were graced by her melody.
