She is also survived by her siblings, Mary C. Antu, Guillermo Cortez, Alicia Hernandez, Sacramento Tejeda, Jr., Johnny Tejeda, and Albert Tejeda.
In her early years, Juanita was removed from school in the 8th grade to help her mother care for her siblings. As an adult, she returned to school while working two jobs as a waitress to earn her GED. She later pursued further education by earning a Nursing Assistant certificate from Mansfield College and a Medication Aide Certificate from Palo Alto College.
Juanita worked as a waitress at high-end hotels for much of her young adult life, often holding two jobs to support her family. After receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant diploma, she worked at several nursing homes, eventually training as a restorative aide and attaining her Medication Aide certification. She dedicated her life to caring for others until her retirement.
Juanita loved to sew, creating work uniforms, baby clothes, and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Her gardening skills were evident in her prideful care of rose bushes, vegetable harvests, and fruit trees. She was known for baking banana bread, which she sold alongside nursing uniforms and breakfast tacos when finances were tight. Her love language was expressed through cooking, especially her gourmet Mexican dishes. Juanita enjoyed camping, fishing, BBQing, and hosting tamaladas, where she was known for her efficiency.
Before her illness, Juanita was actively involved in her Catholic church community, St. Francis Cabrini, where she donated, collected, and distributed food to the poor and underserved. She participated in fundraising events like bingo and senior dances.
Juanita will be remembered for her service to her family and community. She always opened her home to anyone in need, providing shelter, food, love, and the nurturing care of a mother. Her wisdom and teachings about love and family will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, located at 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas, 78232, on February 7, 2026, at 1:00 pm. The Guerra Family invites guests to stay following the service for food and fellowship.
