Judy Metz, a cherished resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on November 18, 1943, Judy was known for her compassionate and devoted nature. Her kindhearted and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and her gentle demeanor was a source of comfort to all who knew her.
In her early years, Judy was a collegiate swimmer at Kansas State University, where her hard-working and resilient character shone through. Her dedication to her sport was matched only by her commitment to her studies and her peers.
Judy was very active in her community, particularly through her involvement with Concordia Lutheran Church. Her faithfulness and compassion were evident in her participation in the church choir and her selfless missionary work in Africa and Belize. Her gentle and honest nature endeared her to all who knew
her, and she was a beacon of light and hope in her community.
She and her husband, George, were married for 58 years, having celebrated their union on January 29, 1966. Their marriage was a testament to her enduring love and commitment, further illustrating her compassionate and devoted nature.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Cecil Wolf. Judy is survived by her beloved husband, George E. Metz, II; daughter, Kara Hallenberger; son, Dr. George “Trae” Metz, III (Julia); brother,
Quintin Wolf (Diane); six grandchildren, Jacob Hallenberger, Joshua Hallenberger, Taylor Metz, Keaton Metz, Kylie Metz, and Lauren Giuffrida.
A graveside service will take place at 9:45 A.M., on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road.
Judy Ann Metz will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her selfless service to others, and her kindhearted legacy that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
