Beloved by all and cherished by those who knew her best, Judith passed away peacefully Monday. She was the epitome of beautiful on the inside and out and was a wife, mother, a teacher, and the sweetest friend to so many. Judith was born on June 22, 1940 in Laredo, Texas to Fred and Allene Seitz. The family lived in Pharr, Texas where her father owned a grocery store named Seitz Supermarket. Judith had very happy years growing up – she twirled, was always in the Citrus Fest court, was active in the Catholic faith like her father first in the Valley and then in San Antonio at St. Pius X, and had lifelong friends. She graduated from UT in Austin in 1961 and received a Masters from Arizona in 1966. She started her teaching career in New Braunfels and in 1968, she taught with the Department of Defense in Wildflecken, Germany and traveled all over Europe. Many San Antonio children were privileged to have Mrs. Walton as their teacher - at Alamo Heights, NEISD, St. Mary's Hall, St. Pius X Catholic School, and finally SAISD. She had a way with children, who gravitated towards her sweetness, her humor and her love. She met her husband Jarvis Edgar "Edd" Walton, a fellow teacher and traveler and they were married in 1972 until he passed away in 2010. Most of all, she was the kind of mother that everyone should have. She loved her three daughters intensely, always putting them first, encouraging them, learning from them, and enjoying the simple things in life like riding bikes in the sunshine, baking cookies, playing the piano, and reading books to her kids in bed.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kelly Walton and her husband Peter Hofer, Laura Grabouski and her husband Jeff, and Holly Fleigel and her husband Jeff and by her brother Fred Seitz and his wife Diane. She had 6 beautiful grandchildren and to them she was "Mimi"- Ben, Luke, Nate, Abigail, Zachary and Ryan.
A Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
