

Judith L. Barker a 6th generation native Texan, age 72 of San Antonio entered God's Peace Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Judy was born in Poteet, TX to Samuel J. Barker and Ursie (Dimples) Caruthers Barker and was raised in the Von Ormy-Somerset area where her maternal ancestors settled.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Patrick A. Barker.
Judy is survived by her brother, Tim (Elisabet) Barker; nephew, Lee (Sunshine) Barker and their children, Simon and Zachary; niece, Jennifer (Carl) Mannheim and their children, Erik and Malin; and long time friend, Beth Walker. She is also survived by numerous others including her cousin, Collis Markt and a host of Walker relatives who considered Judy family.
Judy liked all kinds of sports and played basketball and softball in high school. She was a School Teacher for 39 years during which time she coached a variety of sports at Three Rivers, Seguin, and Lee High Schools and taught Science at Eisenhower Middle School. She was well respected by her students and colleagues, many of whom remained in contact.
Judy was a very kind and giving person. Her interests were in Genealogy, Texas History and flowers. She loved her family and all animals, especially cats. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and Hermann Sons Association.
Visitation will be Monday evening, June 4, 2012 beginning at 5:30 at Porter Loring North Chapel.
