Judy Jean (Rice) Evans, age 70, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas after a brave 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Judy was born August 12, 1945 in San Antonio to Clyde and Gertrude "Trudy" Rice.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Ann Rice. Judy is survived by her daughter, Trudy Pickens and husband, Shawn; son, Treavor Evans; sister, Myra Wiatrek; granddaughter, KylieAnn Grace Pickens; nieces and nephews, Karen Sturdivant (James), Kim Markgraf (Tim), Ken Janysek (Janett); great nieces and nephews, Michael, Monica, Ashley, Heather, Zach, Chloe, Dawn, Alec and Justin and close friend, Betty Kollodziej.
Anyone that ever met Judy will agree that she had the most loving spirit, positive attitude, beautiful, friendly smile, a twinkle in her eye and a caring heart. She was not only a loving mother, grandmother and sister, but a mother to many of her children's friends and the most wonderful Aunt "G" to her nieces and nephews (her "Schatzi's"). Everyone remembers her for her delicious recipes and would travel far to spend time with her in the kitchen.
She spent years as a banker, where she became a friend to hundreds of customers. Throughout her brave battle, many doctors and nurses not only helped her and comforted her, but went over and above and became her friend, often calling her after hours to check on her. She loved playing bunco and spending time with her many friends, traveling, especially to South Carolina and to the annual coast trip with the family. She spent countless hours researching genealogy and she loved antiques and anything victorian.
She had the voice of an angel and loved singing. "I'll be seeing you" was a favorite song of all. Judy (Aunt G) will be missed by so many, but we know that she is rejoicing with her family and friends in heaven, especially her Mother, who was there to welcome her on her own birthday.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Porter Loring North.
