
Julia Presnall Cage, age 91, died Wednesday, February 20,2002. She was born in Alice, Texas on October 13, 1910. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard Grady Cage; father, Pope Arthur Presnall; mother, Donia Scruggs Presnall of Alice, Texas; her brothers, Homer Presnall and P.A. Presnall, Jr.; sisters, Alice Presnall Wasson and Mary Presnall Wise. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Sharon Cage of San Antonio, Kathryn Cage Lutts and her husband Patrick Stephens Lutts of Kerrville; son, Presnall Carroll Cage and his wife, Stephanie Rainey Cage of Falfurrrias, Texas; grandson, Wesley Monroe Callaway III of Beaumont; Richard Cage Hair, Philip Cage Carrington, and William Claiborne Carrington, all of San Antonio and Presnall Grady Cage and William Rainey Cage of Falfurrias; granddaughters, Julia Callaway Gwin and Bonnie Hair Chumbley of San Antonio, Cecilia Johnson Hager of Kerrville and Valerie Rainey Cage of Falfurrias. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Country Club, The Argyle, San Antonio Country Club. She was a former president of the Falfurrias Garden Club and a charter member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority of Southern Methodist University. Julia and her husband Dick traveled extensively and entertained in grand South Texas style. Julia was considered a consummate hostess by her friends and family and was known for her irrepressible sense of humor. Her story telling amused all who were lucky enough to be within earshot. Her tongue-in-cheek hunting guide book "The Care and Feeding of Hunting Friends" has been enjoyed by many guests of the Cage Ranch. Julia enjoyed the outdoors, she hosted "congrejandos" crab fishing parties on the beach at Port Aransas, countless hunts at the Cage Ranch and was an accomplished competition pigeon shooter. She was blessed in having many friends and a loving family.
