

She was born in Kokomo, Indiana on December 4, 1919, the daughter of Doris Cornwell Martindale Reiter and Emmett Martindale.
She received her education in Indiana. Julia married Col. Philip E. Curtis, USAF, and had thirty years with her family living in 13 states and 3 overseas locations. During her Air Force life Julia was active in family services, serving as coordinator at two bases, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska and Loring Air Force Base, Maine, plus holding offices in a number of Officers Wives Clubs.
She resided in San Antonio for the past 34 years. While in San Antonio, she was a member and office holder of the Whispering Oaks Garden Club and a member of the San Antonio Women's Republican Club. Mrs. Curtis has been an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church since 1974.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by her loving mate of 64 years, Col. Philip E. Curtis, USAF, Ret.; her son, Dr. Ronald James Curtis and his wife Ryuko of Beaufort, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Ben A. Curtis of Lewiston, Maine; sister-in-law, Joan Michaud, of Presque Isle, Maine; step-brother, Delbert Reiter of Fort Wayne, Indiana and cousin Richard Cornwell of Bryan, Texas.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Porter Loring Mortuary North.
