Julie Nelson

Julie Nelson age 80, of San Antonio, died peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2021, in her home due to complications of ongoing health issues. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Stanly Drazkowski; son, Wayne Nelson; siblings, Adam, Bernard, Paul, Rose, Mary, Jim, Margaret, Richard, and Teresa. Julie is survived by her husband, Wendell Nelson; son, Jesse Nelson & his wife Judith; grandchildren, Joshua Nelson & his wife Megan, and Jacob Nelson; great-great grandchild, Riley Nelson; and her sister, Helen Dietrich.

Julie was born in Winona MN in Oct 1940. She married her lifelong partner/love Wendell in October 1963. She was a caring and loving wife/mother/grandmother and always went out of her way to help others in need. Julie retired from working at Brocks Candies in Winona but, her true passion in life was working with horses and mules. She was very talented at training horses and taught one of them to count, kneel, kiss, prance, dance and even to roll over. Julie had many creative and unique ideas that her and Wendell made a reality to include building an Eight-side house & garage, multiple animal shelters, and horse trailers. She enjoyed her time riding with friends and family and the campfires after a long day in the saddle. Custer National park was one of her preferred destinations. Julie always went out of her way to bring happiness and joy to others. One of her favorite holidays was Halloween. She hosted numerous Halloween parties that were a mixture of horseback riding through a haunted forest and fun entertaining games making it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Julie led a long and memorable life and she brought happiness to everyone she touched. We will never forget her kindness and caring nature and we ask that you celebrate the good times and memories she left in our lives. Julie we will truly miss you.
