Justin was an extraordinary man — brilliant, kind, endlessly curious, and deeply devoted to the people in his life. He studied at the University of Idaho, earning his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and he carried that same passion and dedication into everything he did.
Music was woven into Justin’s soul. He knew the lyrics to almost every song that came on — from Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “My Hooptie” to the Beastie Boys’ “Paul Revere”, from ’80s and ’90s classics to hip-hop and rap. Music, like Justin, brought people together.
Justin had a gift for making everyone feel seen. He never rushed into a conversation, always asked thoughtful questions, and truly wanted to know people. In the last year and a half of his life, Justin discovered a new passion in art. He took classes at UTSA and in a private studio in San Antonio, fully immersing himself in watercolor, acrylic, oil paints, and Conte à Paris crayons. He created breathtaking pieces for family and friends — pouring his heart into every brushstroke, just as he did with everything he loved.
Justin’s passions were endless: snowboarding, volleyball, fly fishing (including making his own flies), building miniature models, creating computers and guitar pedals with his son Corbin, traveling, and of course — food. He was a true foodie, who loved to cook, discover amazing restaurants, and share every experience with the people he loved. One of his greatest joys was making fresh lattes for family and friends — especially for his wife, Nancy, delivering hers to her in bed every morning with love.
Justin was incredibly proud of his daughter, Natascha, and all she accomplished in sports. He and Natascha shared a special bond over music, often laughing together as he air-drummed or danced to her favorite songs — a joy they both cherished.
Justin made friends everywhere he went — airports, restaurants, airplanes, coffee shops — there were no strangers in his world, only friends he hadn’t met yet.
Above all, Justin loved God. He always seemed to know the perfect scripture for every moment, often sending a quick prayer to someone who was on his heart. He never judged, welcomed conversations about all beliefs, and possessed remarkable knowledge of many religions. At just 18, he even studied Biblical architecture at Simpson College. His faith guided his life with humility, wisdom, and compassion.
Justin’s legacy is his love for people, his tireless work ethic, his generosity, and his unwavering integrity. If he could help you, he would — without hesitation. He was a role model to many, and to his son Corbin, he lived with honor, always teaching that when your moral compass points true north, you will never lose your way.
Justin loved his work, his family, and his life — and he lived every day fully.
Justin is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Schlee; his daughter, Natascha Schlee; his son, Corbin Schlee; and his father, John Schlee, along with many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.
Justin will forever be loved and deeply missed.
