Juvencia “Janie” Revilla Mendoza, affectionately known as “Shorty” passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Central Time. A woman of unshakable strength, deep love, and unwavering conviction, Janie lived a life full of meaning, purpose, and pride.
Born to Juvencia Arce Revilla and Ernesto M. Revilla, Janie was a force from the beginning. As the eldest daughter, she played a pivotal role in raising her 14 siblings—often serving as both mother and father. Fiercely protective and lovingly strict, she helped shape the lives of those around her with grace, discipline, and an abundance of heart.
Throughout her life, Janie was many things: an athlete, an activist, a trailblazer, and above all, a devoted mother and grandmother. She proudly protested in support of farm workers’ rights, was a dedicated member of the Texas Farm Workers Union and LULAC, and shattered barriers as the first female president of Toastmasters at USAA. Her academic pursuits led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Antioch University.
Janie’s love for life was evident in everything she did—singing joyfully, traveling widely, painting passionately, and yes, even gambling with a twinkle in her eye and a glass of red wine in hand. She will be remembered for her fierceness, her fairness, and her boundless love for her family.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Juvencia Arce Revilla and Ernesto M. Revilla.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Frank Baladez Mendoza. Her legacy lives on through her children, Linda J. Mendoza Beltran (husband, Pablo Beltran) and Frank Adam Mendoza (Wife Fumi Ishimatsu Mendoza). She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Christopher Jonathan Beltran, Cassandra Nicole Beltran (Christan Molina), Adam Alejandro Mendoza, Marisa Mendoza and Cristian Mendoza (wife, Paige Mendoza). Her great-grandchildren include Oliver Molina, Tara Molina, Santiago Mendoza, Augustine Mendoza, Benedicto Mendoza and coming Maria Lucia Mendoza, who continue to carry her spirit forward.
We will miss her fierceness, fairness, and extreme love for life. We love you, Mom.
