Karen Yvonne Evans, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas after an extended illness. She was born April 17, 1957, in Sebastopol, California to Elaine and Harry Alonzo Welsh.
Karen received her Associates of Arts Degree from Yuba College, Maryville California. She also received her Juris Doctorate Degree from the Empire School of Law in 1994. She was most known for being a Defense Attorney at Law in Lakeport California for over 20 years. She retained her License until 2022. She spent some time in Criminal Law as a Defense Attorney, some Family Law, and mostly she represented juvenile's when they got into trouble or tried to protect them from going back to a bad situation. Since she had been a foster child in her youth, she wanted to protect and fight for those who did not get that opportunity.
Karen was tenacious and a hard worker. She loved to run, and not just a mile or two, but more like 10-15 miles at a time. She loved to sing, especially in church. She was a very talented seamstress and worked for Levi's in her youth. She was a loving mother and had a wisecracking sense of humor. She was so sweet, and innocent yet would tell some dirty jokes or surprise people when she would speak how frank she could be. She was well traveled from her youth and spent some years in South Carolina, most of her life in California, and late 2015 moved to San Antonio Texas to be with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Welsh; sister, JoAnn Welsh-Maguire; ex-husband Robert Evans, beloved dogs Nicki, Becca, and Jake. Karen is survived by her daughter, Brenda Escobar, and husband Edward; granddaughter, Eva Escobar; mother, Elaine Warmkessel; sisters, Marilyn VanDolson, Kathleen Smith, Diane Edenfield; brother, Dennis Welsh and wife Susie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in California and abroad.
