Born near the town of Osyka, Mississippi on July 26, 1911, Katherine Feil Cutrer was the daughter of Francis Louise Miller and Raleigh Tate Cutrer and sister to Raleigh Tate Cutrer, Jr., Edward Anthony Cutrer and Agnes Louise Cutrer.
She attended Mississippi Women's College, the University of Alabama and Columbia University. Katherine taught Art and English in numerous high schools as part of her travels in a military family.
In 1943 she married Walter W. Pearson of Tuscaloosa, AL, who was killed in North Africa in 1945.
In 1948, she married Clarence Gordon King of Jackson, Mississippi, with whom she had two surviving sons; Dr. C. Gordon King, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and David R. H. King of Bethesda, Maryland.
A private ceremony will be held by the family at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on February 9, 2006
