Kathleen I. Kersey

Kathleen Iris Kersey, known to all as Kathy, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, January 24, 2025, at age 85. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 5, 1939, to Roy Winford Woods and Faye Evelyn Willeford Woods.

Kathy grew up in Des Moines, Iowa where she met and married her husband of 63 years, Thomas Eugene Kersey. They both attended Roosevelt High School. Kathy graduated from West Suburban Nursing School in Chicago, IL, as a Registered Nurse (RN), and spent her life taking care of people. She loved that, singing, and taking long walks holding hands with Tom, but her most cherished times were those spent with her very large family. She is survived by her adoring husband, Tom; her five children: Randy Kersey (Darlene), Suzanne Wiers (Carl), Wendy Hudson (Mike), Doug Kersey (Becky), and Brenda Cutbirth (Travis); twenty-five grandchildren: Reagan (Ashley), Jonathon (Amy), Hope, Faith, Rachel (Zack), Ali (Josh), David (Corinne), Jonny, Timothy (Maddy), Emily, Anna, Jordan (Will), Joshua, Daniel (Abbie), Jonathan (Emilee), Benjamin, Timothy, Samuel, Annika, Lenny, Anna (Garrett), Benjamin, Chloe (Shane), Nico, and Asher; fourteen great grandchildren: Hudson, Emerson, William, Emily, Westley, Charlie, Wilder, Willy, Jesse, Lucia, two yet to be named, Jude and Daisy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bill and Eugene, and her grandson, David.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life at Porter Loring North at a time to be determined in the future, followed by interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
