

She was born in Bay City, Texas on November 14, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Otis and Clevy Phillips. She grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1933. She then attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee.
She transferred to and graduated from the University of Texas, Austin in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at UT she was a member of Alpha Delta i Sorority. This affiliation created many strong friendships she cherished through the years; and she was an active alumnae member with her sorority throughout her life.
In 1950 she married the late Dr. Graham B. Ladd. Dr. Ladd was a respected anesthesiologist in San Antonio prior to his death in 1985.
She was an active, enthusiastic member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church for many years. Another of her favorite organizations was the Bexar County Medical Society Alliance, and she was an active participant in the Medical Society for many years.
She loved to gather with her family and friends at the San Antonio Country Club and The Petroleum Club. She was quite an entrepreneur, having operated a working family farm near Dumas, Texas, for many years.
She was a very devoted and exemplary mother to her two children and a proud and loving grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a sister, Juanita Phillips Harris and husband, John W. Harris, of San Antonio; brothers, Arthur Hamilton of Dallas; Rex Phillips of Dallas and Otis Phillips, Jr., of Amarillo.
She is survived by a son, Richard L. Ladd, of San Antonio; a daughter, Cynthia Ladd Huey and husband, Charles M. Huey, Jr. of San Antonio; and nephews, Phil Harris and wife, Kaylene Harris, Bill Harris and wife, Sonja Harris, all of San Antonio, David Phillips and his wife, Sharon Phillips of Dallas, TX and her nieces, Linda Phillips Barns of Tyler, TX and Sidney Arthur and husband, Jay Arthur of Dallas, TX. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren, Brandon M. Clementson and wife, Erin Mitchell Clementson, Kathleen B. Clementson and Elizabeth G. Huey, all of San Antonio.
The family wishes to gratefully thank Maria Hernandez, who has lovingly and faithfully served the family for over 50 years. The family also wishes to thank Terry Bein and Roxanne Ingle of Odyssey hospice staff.
