With profound sadness, we share the news of Kathy Sims' peaceful departure from this world on October 14, 2023, at the age of 76, following her long and courageous battle with cancer. Kathy left a beautiful imprint on the hearts of those fortunate and blessed to have known her.
Born in Hamilton, Texas in 1947, she loved to read and enjoyed being an older sister to Bubba, Jo Beth, Jack and Mary. As a young adult, she moved to San Angelo where she met Ed and they spent the next 54 years creating a legacy of love and family. In their retirement years, Ed & Kathy found joy in weekend getaways to various casinos nearby as they didn’t want to be too far from family.
One of Kathy’s love languages was food. She loved to make sure that everyone had a full belly. She never knew how to cook a small portion, her portions were always enough to feed a whole army. Her pantry was always full and ready to make sure everyone that visited always had an old fashioned country meal and plenty of snacks for the kids to choose from.
Kathy's lasting legacy resides in her deep love for family and God. Most of all, it's her innate natural ability to radiate warmth, kindness, and love that will remain etched in the memories of everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Ed, and a family that admired her endlessly: children, Mitch Sims and wife Kelly, Michelle Williams and Ron Greathouse, Eddie Sims and wife Jenevy, and Holly Garcia and husband Chris; grandchildren, Jalene Castro and husband David, Jordan Waller and husband Chris, Justine Sims, Jake Sims, William Lee Blakey III and fiancé Maddie, Shea Nixon and husband Josh, Brittany Winston and Myles, Kainoa Sims, Kaelyn Sims, Cory Garcia, and Chesnei Garcia and husband Ethan Lamora; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and a lifetime of friends and extended family. Every one of them will carry a piece of Kathy in their hearts, treasuring countless memories and special moments they shared with her.
May Kathy’s soul find eternal peace, and may her stories, adventures, and love continue to inspire us all.
