

Kathryn Ann Bowen, known to friends and family as Kay, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born November 12, 1931, in Plains, Pennsylvania to Ragean Geary and Morgan Watkins.
Kay attended high school in Niagra Falls, New York, where, through mutual friends, she met and married the love of her life, Tom Bowen. They were married on February 16, 1951. She worked for some time at Bell Aerospace Corporation in Niagra Falls. Being the wife of a military man, she accompanied him to service bases as she could, including Germany, Spain and Texas, where they ultimately put down roots. Kay also worked in the Civil Service end of military life, ultimately retiring as the Postmaster of Somerset, Texas. Kay was an avid reader, always having a book on her side table. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards and would rarely turn down an opportunity to hit the tables in Vegas! Kay was a big sports fan, watching most any sport available, but she especially loved her Buffalo Bills and San Antonio Spurs. As a charter member of Lone Star Scouts RV Club, Kay enjoyed monthly campouts and fellowship with dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Thomas “Tom” Bowen Jr.; her parents; and siblings, John Watkins, Emma Adams, and Charlotte Swendsen. Kay is survived by her children, Gary Bowen and wife Tina, Nancy MacDonald and husband Dan, and Christy Albright; grandchildren, Morgan Bowen and wife Sarah, Teagan Bowen, Heather Hawkins and husband Mike, Danny MacDonald, Scott MacDonald and wife Sara, and Grace Albright; great-grandchildren, Thomas Bowen, Michael Hawkins, Bradley Hawkins, Sean Hawkins, Bailey MacDonald, and Kyle MacDonald; as well as numerous extended family members.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Pastor Neldo Schmidt will officiate. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where Kay will be reunited with Tom once again. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to American Heart Association or Shriners Hospital for Children.
