She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alton and Alfie Laws; her brother, Alton Brooks Laws, Jr.; her devoted husband, Lester Leonard Norwood; her cherished son, Lester Carol Norwood; and her dear daughter, Leslie Kay Brumley.
Kathryn’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her grandchildren, Richard Allen Kennedy, Jr., Rusty Allen Kennedy, Robert Allen Kennedy, Shelby Lynn Gonzales, Jillian Bunn, and Katy Price, as well as her 13 great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.
A woman of boundless energy and a heart as big as Texas, Kathryn never met a stranger. She could light up any room with her presence and had an incredible way of making everyone feel like family. After retiring, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her grandchildren, creating precious memories that will be treasured for generations. Whether it was storytelling, road trips, or simple moments filled with laughter, she taught those around her that life is meant to be lived fully, with love and joy at its core.
Kathryn found happiness in traveling the country with her RV group, embracing each journey with curiosity and excitement. But above all, her greatest adventure was the love she poured into her family. She believed in working hard, cherishing friendships, and never missing an opportunity to celebrate life’s beautiful moments.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the stories she told, the lessons she imparted, and the love she so freely gave. She was, and always will be, the heart of her family—a guiding light whose warmth will never fade.
A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Kathryn D. Norwood on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1590 Harry Wurzbach Rd San Antonio, Texas 78209.
