

Mary Kathryn Bland Drake Oliver died on Sunday, June 27, 2004. Kay was a charming, elegant lady who was also a devoted loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born on April 10, 1937 in Llano, Texas to Joe and Kathryn Brown Bland.
She grew up in Austin and attended The University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was a member of the Junior League, the Battle of Flowers Association, The Merry Wives and a past Mistress of the Robes for the Order of the Alamo. Her professional life included positions with the Bexar County Women's Center and with the Catto Family Offices.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, William S. Drake, III. She is survived by her children, Kathryn Drake Snider and her husband, Ken of Mandeville, Jamaica; William Sherman Drake, IV and his wife, Elizabeth of San Marcos, Texas; Susan Drake Goodman and her husband, Marvin of Austin, Texas; and son Rees R. Oliver III of San Antonio, Texas; and grandchildren Stephen, James, Anna and Paul Snider of Mandeville, Jamaica; Kathryn and Addison Drake of San Marcos, Texas; and Abbey and Ellie Goodman of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Jo Ann Bland Finley and her husband, Mark of Austin, Texas and by her fiancé, Robert Lee Ball Dewar and a host of friends.
