Kens main passion in life was anything automotive. Growing up in San Antonio he would help his father work on cars around the neighborhood after school, learning everything he could about mechanics. After graduating high school, he started working at Columbia Bowling Industries and then Pearl Brewery in the 1950s and 60s, but becoming a rep for Chrysler Motor Company was the start of his motor vehicle career. After having children and realizing that being a Zone Manager for Chrysler kept him out on the road more than he wanted to be, he went to work at North Park Lincoln Mercury in their Sales Dept in the early 1970s.
After his success in Sales with North Park, he opened and ran his own successful car lot selling used vehicles down on San Pedro for the remainder of the decade. In the early 1980s he went to work for Northside ISD working as the Maintenance Supervisor for grounds equipment repair. He retired from NISD in the early 90s and spent time with his cars and his other passion, power boats and being on the lake. In the early 2000s he went back to work part time in the Service Dept at North Park Lincoln where he loved to drive customers in the courtesy shuttle.
Ken owned many muscle and exotic cars over the years of all shapes and forms. He customized quite a few adding his own flair and style to the vehicles. He loved go to local car shows like the "Bun & Barrel" or "Cars and Coffee" with his current hot rod or flashy ride. He owned several Cobras, Vipers and a Maserati. On Sundays he would love to "take a little cruise," in whatever cool car he had at the time. Or you could find him on his boat that he had at Canyon Lake for many years. He enjoyed listening to gospel music every day, especially from Jimmy Swaggart or Elvis Presley.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Valerie and George Evans; and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jennifer Evans; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Jennifer Evans; grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter & Ashley; daughter, Christee Haney and sister Audrey Beaty.
