With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth W. Myers, a cherished member of our community, who touched the lives of many through his profound commitment to music, family, and the joys of life. He was born on June 9, 1924, in Drumright, Oklahoma to Helen and Harry Myers and entered this world with a spirit destined to touch the lives of those around him.
Kenneth discovered his passion for music at a young age and dedicated his life to sharing the transformative power of melody and harmony. For over 50 years, he faithfully served as a Baptist Music Minister, inspiring congregations with his skillful guidance of hymns and songs that uplifted spirits and deepened faith.
Beyond his musical talents, Kenneth was a dedicated family man whose love for his wife, Adline, and their two children was boundless. He nurtured a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support, demonstrating the beauty of familial bonds through his actions and words. He stood as a steadfast prayer warrior, pouring his heart out in fervent supplication for the well-being and success of his beloved children. His prayers were not only a source of strength, but a testament to his immeasurable devotion as a father. His children were his pride and joy, and his dedication to them knew no bounds.
Outside of his ministerial duties, he pursued his passions for golfing and bowling with the same dedication that he brought to his music. Whether on the greens or at the lanes, his competitive spirit was always paired with a contagious enthusiasm that brought joy to everyone around him. His excitement for life extended to his hobbies, which included collecting coins and stamps. His carefully curated collections reflected his keen eye for detail and his appreciation for history and culture. Later in life, he found solace and delight in coloring books, a simple yet profound way to express his creativity and embrace a sense of tranquility.
A voracious reader, he was rarely seen without a book in his hand. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and he generously shared his insights and discoveries with others, fostering a love for learning in those fortunate enough to know him. He had a quick and fun sense of humor that sometimes got him in trouble in and out of school with his 4 siblings. His family enjoyed listening to his stories and would spend evenings laughing as he would share his adventures of mischievous behavior and pranks.
One could never forget the infectious sound of Kenneth's laughter – a hearty, genuine expression of the joy he found in life's simplest pleasures and his special sense of adventure that including riding in his son’s Spyder well into his 80’s. His laughter was a bridge that connected people, breaking down barriers and fostering connections. His presence could light up a room, and his zest for life was an inspiration to all who crossed his path.
Kenneth's life was a testament to faith, love, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. His unwavering devotion to his faith, his unending love for his family, and his boundless enthusiasm for the activities he cherished are a source of inspiration to us all.
