Kent Krause, age 60 died on April 10th after a courageous battle with cancer. He bravely tried everything to beat the disease until the very end, all the while remaining the center of attention, entertaining his family and friends with his lighthearted attitude and major league sense of humor. He will be remembered by his loving wife Renee, his children Dean, Amy, Curtis and Courtney, his twin brother Keith, and his sisters, Carol Shea and Kathy Lange.
Kent always said the most important thing in business was to take your job seriously but never take yourself seriously. This led to a successful career as a telecommunications manager at Occidental Petroleum and later the Capital Group. His success was marked not only by his performance for the companies, but by the fact that he always sought--through his unique sense of humor, his kind treatment of others and his equal respect for co-workers up and down the ladder--to ensure his employees had fun on the job.
Kent was a devoted sports fan; boxing and basketball were his favorites. He was a world traveler who especially loved to take relaxing and luxurious vacations in the Caribbean with Renee. And fortunately Renee was a gourmet cook, because Kent loved trying different kinds of food, and always looked forward to sharing his culinary discoveries with his family. But most of all, Kent's greatest joy was making others laugh, entertaining people everywhere he went. With his creative, spontaneous and intelligent sense of humor Kent could make any situation hilarious. He was always the funniest person in the room. He was even able to lift the spirits of everyone in the chemo ward; several people said they couldn't believe how much fun they had during chemotherapy when Kent was around. He will be sorely missed by more people than he would ever have imagined.
Private services were held April 12. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you designate memorial contributions on behalf of Kent Krause to: The Cancer Therapy and Research Center, 7979 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78229, Attention: Donor Relations.
