Kim Louise Brodd was born on November 2, 1958, in Taipei, Taiwan, to Lavonne and Gene Brodd. She was the cherished youngest sister to Laura and Joann. Growing up in a military family, Kim’s early years were spent experiencing life around the world—living in Taiwan, Germany, Florida, Minnesota, and Texas.
A proud graduate of Red Wing High School in Minnesota, Kim went on to college before beginning what would become a lifelong career with the FBI. She started at a young age in the Minneapolis office, but soon traded snow for sunshine and returned to Texas, where she continued her dedicated service.
Kim’s adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively by air, land, and sea. Her journeys took her across the globe, but one of her most treasured memories was her mission trip to Israel, where she ministered to Holocaust survivors—an experience that left a lasting impact on her heart. Her final road trip was in September to Door County, Wisconsin, and her last cruise took her to the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska.
Kim was a woman of many talents. She had a beautiful voice and faithfully served on her church’s worship team for many years. She played both the clarinet and the ukulele, and she was a gifted artist, known for her drawings and paintings of deer, cowboy boots, and longhorn steer. Her creative spirit also found expression in jewelry-making, crafting prism window decor, and sewing dresses for young girls in Africa—each piece lovingly made and generously shared.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Jake and Hannah, who brought her immense joy. In later years, she helped train service dogs for the blind and military personnel. In her youth, she also had a horse named Bianca, whom she loved and rode with joy.
Above all, Kim’s life was marked by her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Her church and her Christian community were her family. She found joy in reading the Bible, singing hymns, engaging in mission work, and sharing the love of Christ with others. Her heart overflowed with generosity, compassion, and prayer. She had a gift for making everyone she met feel seen, valued, and loved.
Kim lived as a true servant of God, always seeking the good, always giving, and always hoping that others would come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and grace.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her light and legacy will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
