Kim Soo Sonia "Helen" Rifenbury

Kim Soo Sonia “Helen” Rifenbury, age 82, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 in Crescent City, Florida with her family by her side. Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Kim met and married Sgt. Philip Rifenbury, Sr., during the Korean War. She moved to the states with Philip, and lived in Kansas, Alaska, Louisiana and Texas. Alaska was her favorite place.

Kim started a career at 40, working at Colonial Bakery and retired in 1992. Kim led an active life and enjoyed dancing, gardening, bingo and water aerobics. She was member of the VFW. More than anything Kim was a loving mother, grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by her husband and son, Michael Rifenbury.

Kim is survived by her son; Philip M. Rifenbury (Pamela) of Abilene, Texas; daughters, Alta Shaerer of McDonough, Georgia, Joyce Browne (Ralph) of Grapevine, Texas; a sister, Mother Superior Stephanie Kim of Seoul, Korea, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Services 9:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Timothy Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. San Houston National Cemetery.
