

Koyt Woodworth Everhart, Jr, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully and was welcomed home with his Lord and Savior on July 7, 2025. Koyt was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on November 2, 1943. Koyt is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Jennifer Everhart, his two sons and their families: Jonathan & Becki and Koyt III & Jennifer, his grandchildren: Koyt IV, Joey, Ryleigh, Caroline, Reily and Sabrina, and his cousin: Bonnie Sue. Other family members include: Carl & Sunee Haack, Joey Blanton, Abel Martinez, Margie Martinez, Eddie & Karyn Dobbins, Trey & Gayle Haack and their families.
In his early years, Koyt was an avid athlete and played football and basketball. He had a deep admiration for his coach Dean Smith who made a major impact on his life. Koyt graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Wake Forest University with a Juris Doctorate Law degree.
Koyt served in the US Navy in the JAG Corps from 1975-78 and was stationed in the Philippines where he negotiated the Military Base agreement between the United States and the Philippine government. He was also awarded a Navy Expert Pistol Ribbon and was later stationed in Coronado, California.
Koyt went on to practice law as a defense attorney in North Carolina and then started a private-practice where he represented developers, retailers, and builders in the real estate industry. He had a successful and fulfilling career of over 30 years specializing in commercial retail real estate. He worked as Vice President of Real Estate for national retailers such as Melrose Family Fashions, CitiTrends, and Shoe Show where he negotiated numerous contracts for new stores. He was a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and was a guest speaker for 17 conferences.
In the early 1990’s, Koyt competed in Rodeo cow-cutting competitions where he won national and world championships. Koyt loved sports, especially watching college football and basketball games with family and friends, as well as playing golf. He cherished time with his family and loved taking trips together over the years. He also appreciated nature and had a deep respect for the history of the Alamo.
Koyt was a man of his word. He had a big heart and was always wanting to help others. He was known for his optimistic outlook on life, his great sense of humor and his fun, energetic personality. He admired his wife, Jennifer, and mentioned she was the best thing that ever happened to him. He cherished his dog, Coco, maybe even more than football.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Thursday, July 24th at 2:00pm at Sunset North Funeral Home located at 910 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX 78232, followed by a reception at Sunset North Funeral Home.
